GB Apperley Bridge September Newsletter 2024

Welcome to our latest newsletter! It’s been amazing to see so many new faces at the academy over the last few months, and we’re delighted with how everyone is progressing with their Jiu Jitsu, too.

September has been a busy month so far - a big shout out to William and Jools who headed to the Empire Grappling South Yorkshire Open to test their skills outside of the academy. A big well done from everyone at Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge!

Next month, we’ve got our first GBF programme starting on the week commencing 7th of October. This women-s only, 8 week programme is a fantastic introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a small group environment. If you know anyone who would like to attend, ask them to drop us a message or head to our website for more information. Please note some timetable amends: No gi will move to 7.30pm on Tuesday, and GBF will take place on a Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm.

If you’d like to try competing, Empire Grappling will be hosting the Lancashire Open on the 3rd of November. If you’d like some competition advice, please feel free to grab one of our coaches for a chat. Register online here

Timetable Changes

As mentioned above, we’re really excited to be kicking off our first GBF course at GB Apperley Bridge at the beginning of October. Please note that no gi will move to 7.30pm on a Tuesday, and GBF will take place on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at 6.30pm.

Empire Grappling South Yorkshire Open

Jools and William absolutely smashed it at the South Yorkshire Open earlier this month. They’ve put in long hours in training and it was great to see both guys step up to the competition mats to put their skills to the test. We couldn’t be prouder of the effort and determination shown both on the day and in the build up to the event - well done guys!

GBF: Our Women’s Only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Programme

We’re really excited to be starting our first GBF programme at Apperley Bridge in October. This 8 week, women’s only course gives participants the perfect opportunity to gain understanding of the fundamental principles of Jiu Jitsu in a small group environment.

Our professional coaches cover everything from situational awareness through to common self defence scenarios and sport Jiu Jitsu. If you know of anyone who would be interested, drop us a DM or head to our website to register interest today!

Upcoming Competition: The Empire Grappling Lancashire Open

Been inspired by William and Jools? Empire Grappling will be hosting the Lancashire Open in November. With over a month to get prepared, why not test yourself on the competition stage, against people of the same weight and experience level?

Grab a coach for a chat or register online today to book your spot!
