GB Apperley Bridge October Newsletter

September has been a busy month at Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge! Not only have we hosted our first women’s self defence seminar, we had our first academy social meal out at Moon Tea Chinese cafe.

October promises to be an exciting month, too. We’ll be hosting our first women’s GBF course, welcoming women brand new to Jiu Jitsu for their 8 week introduction to the sport. A big welcome to our new GBF members, and we’re really looking forward to seeing you on the mats soon!

Our next team social will be on the 9th of November after our Saturday morning class - please feel free to come along to Jayrock Juices for a bite to each and a catch up!

Finally, you may have spotted the member satisfaction survey dropping into your inbox. We’d really appreciate it if you could fill this out and share your experience of GB Apperley Bridge so far. If you have any questions or would like to discuss anything in more detail, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

See you on the mats

Team GB Apperley Bridge

Member Satisfaction Survey

This month we have sent out our Member Satisfaction Survey and we’d really appreciate your time to fill this out. Completion only takes between 5 and 10 minutes, but it gives us invaluable insight into how our members are finding their experience at Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge. Whilst giving your name is optionally anonymous, we’d encourage anyone who has any specific feedback or would like to discuss anything in more detail to reach out - we’ll be more than happy to have a chat!

GBF Is Here!

We’re really excited to be kicking off our first GBF programme at the academy this month. Following our women’s self defence seminar, we’ll be welcoming some new female members to Gracie Barra Apperley Bridge for their 8 week introduction to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! If you know of any women who would like to join our GBF programme, we have spaces available before our first classes begin next week! Get in touch today to find out more and book a spot!

Timetable Changes

Please note some amends to our timetable. This includes, re-jigging our morning and lunch schedule to bring training each day Monday - Saturday allowing a better spread of classes through the week as well as the introduction of the GBF classes on Tuesday / Thursday evening at 18.30 - This will mean the NoGi class on Tuesday will be moved to 19.30. This is the only evening class to be changed.

New Classes:

Morning: Tuesday (Gi) / Thursday (NoGi) at 06.30am and Saturday (Gi) at 08.00am

Lunch: Monday (NoGi) / Wednesday (Gi) / Friday (Gi) at 12.00pm and Saturday (Open mat) at 13.00pm

We will also be adding the “live training” sessions as a bookable class after the sessions! We encourage all members to make the most of live training - even if you cannot stay for the full half hour, you can build this up over time. GB2/GB3 members can also book just on top live training if you are short on time and cant make it to the main class.

2 stripe white belts and up can attend live training (after the all level classes only) and will either do more specific training, or be able to roll with the coach to help build rolling confidence in a safe way.

We really hope these changes help people maximise their training and continue to develop!

Team Social: Jayrock Juices - 9th of November

After a lovely member social at Moon Tea Chinese cafe, we’ll be hosting our next meet up in November. Meet us at Jayrock Juices on the 9th of November for a catch up and bite to eat at our next social! We’ll be heading over after our Saturday morning class for some delicious smoothies and snacks - don’t miss it!

Upcoming Competition: The Empire Grappling Lancashire Open

It’s not too late to sign up to a competition this year! Empire Grappling will be hosting the Lancashire Open on Sunday the 3rd November in Leigh. Why not test yourself on the competition stage, against people of the same weight and experience level?

Grab a coach for a chat or register online today to book your spot!

Women’s Self Defence Seminar

A big thank you to everyone who attended our free women’s self defence seminar last month. It was great to meet everyone, and we hope everyone took something away from the day to apply if or when it’s required. We will host free annual self defence seminars, and everyone is welcome to attend again next year for a refresher!
